The Consequences of Disobedience and the Path to Redemption

The word repentance in blocks
Repentance

We at Keyola make every attempt to include, consider and encourage, all people in their journey through transformation. Because our staff and clientele are diverse, we do not like to Bible thump on this blog. However, I am led to include a familiar biblical story that will help to illuminate our lesson.

Today, we delve into the story of Achan from the book of Joshua, a tale of disobedience, consequences, and ultimately, redemption. This story resonates deeply with many of us, including a recent client, who has faced her own trials and tribulations.

For the total story I encourage you to read the scripture listed below:

Scripture Reading: Joshua 7:1-26

1. The Sin of Achan: Achan, a member of the tribe of Judah, disobeyed Godā€™s explicit command not to take any spoils from the conquered city of Jericho. He coveted and took a beautiful robe, 200 shekels of silver, and a bar of gold, hiding them in his tent. This act of disobedience brought Godā€™s wrath upon the entire nation of Israel, leading to their defeat at Ai and the loss of 36 men.

2. The Consequences of Disobedience: Achanā€™s sin did not only affect him but also his family and the entire community. Similarly, when we make choices that go against Godā€™s will, the repercussions can ripple through our lives and the lives of those around us. My client, like Achan, faced a situation where her brother's reluctance to embrace new opportunities and his attachment to a vanquished land created tension and hindered progress.

3. The Call for Confession and Repentance: When Joshua confronted Achan, he confessed his sin. This act of confession is crucial for us as well. We must acknowledge our wrongdoings and seek Godā€™s forgiveness. My client, in her journey, recognized the need to move forward and embrace the blessings God had in store, despite the challenges posed by her brotherā€™s resistance.

4. The Path to Redemption: Achanā€™s story ends tragically with his punishment, but it serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of obedience and the severe consequences of sin. For my client, the path to redemption lies in her unwavering faith and commitment to Godā€™s plan. By trusting in Godā€™s guidance and making difficult decisions, she can overcome obstacles and find peace and prosperity in her new environment.

Conclusion: Beloved, let us learn from Achanā€™s story and my clientā€™s experience. Disobedience can lead to dire consequences, but through confession, repentance, and faith, we can find redemption. Let us strive to follow Godā€™s will, embrace new opportunities, and trust in His plan for our lives. The beginning of change is most successful through your connection to a higher power.
